Camila Aguais is a multidisciplinary artist based in Surrey, England. Drawing on her background in dance, her work includes works on paper, artist books, installation and performance that explore materiality, surface and gesture. Her work seeks to give space to the essential qualities of the materials while exploring the relationship between image and object. She has participated in various groups exhibitions and residencies in the UK and abroad (France & Italy).
Alongside her studio practice, she is a community arts producer and educator. She has worked on a variety of community arts projects, that includes engaging children in deprived neighbourhoods, co-creating with local schools and artists, and working with children and adults with special needs. Camila’s multifaceted studio practice often intertwines with her teaching and community work, each strand influencing and enriching the other.
